The High Technology Crime Investigation Association (HTCIA) is designed to encourage, promote, aid and effect the voluntary interchange of data, information, experience, ideas and knowledge about methods, processes, and techniques relating to investigation and security in advanced technologies among its membership.

The 2012 year will be a great year for SoCal HTCIA. Coming off some great training and a fantastic turnout at International, the SoCal HTCIA Board looks forward to bringing exciting new and even better trainings in 2012. Understanding that many of our involved agencies and companies are experiencing very difficult budgets, we on the HTCIA board look to offer some great low cost and free training. This year we hope to see you at these fantastic events.

Abstract
In this hands-on lab, we will cover the basics of live memory
collection and its importance during an investigation, especially
involving malware. Attendees will explore the differences between
memory collection and analysis tools. In addition, this lab will cover
basic malware triage, tips and tricks, and pitfalls.
